In India, no new Omicron variant has yet been discovered: In the Rajya Sabha, Health Minister Mandaviya

 

Mandaviya's remark emerges amid concerns that Omicron may have already reached India among those who tested positive for Covid-19 on a trip from South Africa to Mumbai. During question hour in the Rajya Sabha, Union Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya stated that no cases of the novel Omicron type had been detected in India yet.

Despite the fact that no definite cases of Omicron were detected among the 100 people tested, the Mumbai civic authority is attempting to trace down all 466 passengers on the aircraft, as well as around 1000 people who arrived in the previous 14 days.

The Omicron form of covid-19 was first discovered in South Africa last week, and the WHO has designated it as a "variant of concern." According to the World Health Organization, omicron has more than 30 mutations, making it extremely transmissible, and additional research is needed to determine its impact on vaccination effectiveness.
